Performing

舞台或音乐语境中指公开演出;商业与技术语境中指系统、设备或人员“运行表现、履行职责”,如 performing well under pressure。名词化时常说 performing arts(表演艺术)。

  1. “The band is performing live at the festival tonight.” (乐队今晚在音乐节现场演出。)
  2. “The new chip is performing better than we expected in tests.” (新芯片在测试中表现优于预期。)
  3. “She grew up performing in community theater.” (她在社区剧院表演中长大。)

来自古法语 parfournir,经由拉丁语 per-(完全)与 formare(形成、完成),原义为“彻底完成”,后引申为“执行、表演”。

动词 perform 加 -ing 构成现在分词或动名词,前缀 per- 保留在动词原形中。

“Performing arts” 涵盖戏剧、舞蹈、音乐;职场常说 “high-performing team”。学校常设 performing arts 课程,强调创造力与公众表达。
