Masterwork

  1. “Dante’s Divine Comedy is considered a masterwork of world literature.”
  2. “The new building is being hailed as a modern masterwork of architecture.”
  3. “He spent ten years painting what he hoped would be his final masterwork.”
  • work: 作品。

Master(大师)+ Work(作品)。

The old watchmaker spent his life fixing simple clocks. But in the back of his shop, he was building a clock that showed the movement of all the planets and the moon. He worked on it for twenty years. When it was finally finished, the King came to see it. “This is no clock,” the King said in awe, “this is a masterwork.”
