Mannish

  1. “She wore a mannish suit with broad shoulders.”
  2. “Her deep, mannish voice was perfect for the role in the play.”
  3. “She had a mannish way of walking that showed great confidence.”
  • man: 男人。

Man(男人)+ -ish(像……

The new captain of the ship was a woman named Elena. She wore a heavy coat and heavy boots, giving her a mannish appearance. The sailors were skeptical at first. But when she guided the ship through the storm with more strength and skill than any man, they stopped caring about her mannish boots and started calling her “Captain” with pride.
