Mannerism

Mannerism

  1. “He has an annoying mannerism of tapping his pen during meetings.”
  2. “The actor captured all the unique mannerisms of the famous politician.”
  3. “Some critics complained that the author’s writing was full of affected mannerisms.”

Manner(举止)+ -ism(名词后缀)。

The spy was perfect at changing his face, but he couldn’t hide one small mannerism. Every time he told a lie, he would pull his left earlobe. He didn’t even know he did it. But the detective noticed this tiny mannerism, and that was how the secret agent was finally caught.
