Legate

  1. “The papal legate arrived in the city to mediate the peace talks.”
  2. “As a legate of the Emperor, he had the power to make law in the province.”
  3. “The King sent a trusted legate to deliver the secret message to the neighboring kingdom.”

“The legate stood before the council, his golden seal glowing in the torchlight. He carried the authority of the distant capital, and his words would decide whether the city faced war or received a royal pardon.”
