Lackluster

  1. “The team gave a lackluster performance and lost the game.”
  2. “The old silverware had become lackluster over years of neglect.”
  3. “Investors were disappointed by the company’s lackluster earnings report.”

这个词最初由莎士比亚在《皆大欢喜》(As You Like It) 中首创,用来形容眼睛暗淡无神 (“looking on it with lack-lustre eye”)。

“After weeks of traveling in the desert, the explorer’s once shiny boots were lackluster and covered in dust. He felt as lackluster as his shoes, exhausted and drained of all excitement for the journey.”
