Interrupted

  1. “I had an interrupted night’s sleep due to the loud music next door.”
  2. “The speech was interrupted by frequent applause from the crowd.”
  3. “Scientists found interrupted patterns of growth in the ancient trees.”

之间/穿过)+ rumpere(打破/破裂)组成。

  • 固定搭配: “interrupted sleep” (断断续续的睡眠), “be interrupted by…”

inter (在中间) + rupt (破/断)。

The professor was giving a very complex lecture when he was interrupted by a fire alarm. Everyone had to leave the building immediately, and the students were quite frustrated because the important point was just about to be explained.
