Inimical

  1. “The cold climate is inimical to the growth of tropical plants.”
  2. “His actions were inimical to the interests of the company.”
  3. “There was an inimical silence in the room after he spoke.”

“in-” (不) + “amicus” (朋友)。

  • 前缀: “in-” (不)

“The two neighboring countries had a long history of war. The borders were closed, and the laws were inimical to any form of trade. This situation kept both nations poor for many decades.”
