Increased

动词用法说明过去发生的增长;形容词用法常修饰名词,如 “increased demand”,强调与之前相比已抬高的状态。

  1. “Prices increased sharply after the shortage.” (短缺过后价格急剧上涨。)
  2. “The school reported increased attendance this term.” (学校称本学期出勤率提高了。)

“increase” 来自古法语 encroistre,源自拉丁语 increscere(向内生长、变大),由 in- 与 crescere(生长)构成。
