Elected

“Elected” 强调通过投票或正式程序选出,如 “the newly elected mayor”(新当选的市长)、“She was elected chair.”(她当选主席。)与 appointed(任命)相对,突出选举来源。

  1. “He was elected president by a wide margin.”
  2. “Elected officials must report their finances.”
  3. “The club elected two new board members last night.”

e-(出)+ lect(选)+ -ed;名词 election(选举)、elector(选民)同族。

民主政治核心概念为 elected representatives(民选代表);组织内部 also elect committee members(选举委员会成员),未必是国家层级。
