Cogitating

  1. “He walked the garden alone, cogitating on what to say at the meeting.”
  2. “The jury spent hours cogitating before reaching a verdict.”
  3. “She was cogitating whether to accept the overseas assignment.”

来自拉丁语 cogitare(思考),由 co-(一起)与 agitare(驱动、搅动)组成,原义为“在心里反复驱动想法”。

  • 固定搭配: “cogitating on” (深思), “cogitating over” (反复琢磨)

“Cogitating by the fire, the detective connected clues that had seemed unrelated for weeks.”
