Assuming

“Assuming” 来自 assume(承担、假定)。

  1. “Assuming the weather is fine, we will hike on Saturday.”
  2. “You are assuming too much without checking the data.”
  3. “Assuming responsibility for the mistake, she apologized to the team.”

assume 来自拉丁语 assumere(ad- 向 + sumere 取),原义“取走、承担”,引申为“采纳某种前提”。

as-(ad- 变体)+ sume(取)+ -ingassuming that 为固定连词结构。

Assuming we agree on price…

“Assuming the flight lands on time, they planned to go straight to the hotel without assuming the bags would arrive with them.”
